vintage ticking, linen and lace…oh my!

vintage ticking fabric bowl and sachets

As the weather warms I look for light cottons and linens to work with.  I had so much fun making my fabric bowls, you can find the tutorial here, that I decided to make a very large one out of some vintage ticking I was using to make lavender sachets.  I lined it with an antique white linen.  The sachets are filled with French lavender and I used some antique lace trim across the front.

The whole house smells like a lavender field, fabulous!

I’m off to look through my fabric stash and have even thought about using antique handkerchiefs, not sure how I want to incorporate them into the design yet, we’ll see…

  1. Jayne you had me at ticking, I love blue & white ticking and those sachets are simply perfect (and I can’t even smell them!). Thanks for sharing your lovelies.

  2. Very very nice Jayne, loved what you have done with ticking and lace.
Your bowl is very nice, everything looks so crisp and clean! I am sure I would love the scent as I love Lavender.

  3. I love ticking as well these are gorgeous. Growing up our box springs were covered with it as well as our pillows. Do you remember a time when buying a new pillow they were all blue and white ticking instead of this polyester we have now.

    • I agree Lois and when I see vintage ticking at a tage sale or consignment shop I scoop it up. The thought of a polyester pillow is so unpleasant! What’s worse than trying to fall asleep on a hot summer night on polyester! lol!

  4. So charming, Jayne! Reminds me of the lavender sachets I see in Paris. The antique lace trim gives each a pretty touch.
    Have a wonderful weekend,

  5. Thank you for sharing this post on our From the Farm Blog Hop. I can’t wait to make these. I love the contrast of the ticking and lace. They are so fabulous!

I just pinned this post to a few of my Pinterest boards. I know that my followers will love this post as much as I did. I hope that you’ll come back and link up again next week!
