The gallery wall, 99% done…

gallery wall finished

So here it is, my gallery wall! My husband and I with the help of our three sons have been working on this wall and think it’s done.  We’re going to live with it for a bit and let it evolve if need be.  I am someone who loves symmetry and that’s what drove me crazy through this process.  I kept looking for it.We had first put all the pictures on the floor and moved them around, I took some photos of the arrangement and planned on using it for a diagram to follow as we hung them.  Well, let me tell you, pictures look completely different laid out on the floor than they do hanging on a wall!  So as you’ll see in the photos below we would put one picture up, look at it, then move another around it until we liked how that one looked and so on.

I’ve never had anything like this before and am enjoying so far.  Below is a progression of the gallery wall as it came together.

  1. Wow, it looks fabulous!!

  2. What a pleasing collection. I love arrangements like this, especially the fact that you can add or take away – even if it’s just for Christmas or whatever – and it completely changes the way you look at it.

    • Thanks Anne, My husband and I looked at each other this morning and declared it’s a very “commanding” arrangement. I think I am going to make some large down filled pillows in a strong pattern to balance the strength of that design!

  3. I liked the frames above the sofa! was wonderful!!

  4. Oh my that’s gorgeous spot!

  5. Very nice! and I like step by step pictures : )

  6. Wow! Just beautiful! You and your guys did a great job of putting your gallery wall together. of the prettiest ones I have ever seen. I saw your post over at the Cowgirl Up party.

  7. Wow! I love your style. This wall is beautiful. Thank you for linking to Cowgirl Up. I am featuring your wall on my facebook page today. Please grab a “I Was Featured” button from my blog. I am your newest fan too!

  8. Hi, Jayne – It looks FABULOUS!!!! And so artistic! I love the eclectic grouping. Is that a print of Thai temple dancers? Congrats! Really fabulous, again!

    • Hi Loi! Thank you so much, I agonized over some of the placement and then said the heck with it and put them where they felt “right”. That Thai piece is the real deal, my Uncle was an engineer working in Thailand (many, many decades ago) and brought that piece back. It’s one of my favorites! Even the paper it’s on is beautiful and looks handmade. Best, Jayne

  9. It looks fabulous!

I really love this – so soft and pretty! What a wonderful collection that works so well together! That sofa is pretty dreamy too! … I keep wanting to try a gallery wall!

  11. Amazing! Your gallery wall has so much interest. Plus, I am just in love with your couch. The entire space is just gorgeous. Following you here and on Pinterest. Definitely pinning your gallery wall! Found you on Elizabeth & Co.–congrats on your feature!

    • Hi Angela and thanks so much! That couch (and matching love seat) are a set I bought at a consignment shop. They were upholstered in a gold and orange fabric, very dated. But I just loved all the tufting and had them reupholstered in linen.

  12. OMG I not only LOVE your gallery wall I love the whole look to this room!! Beautiful job!

  13. What an eclectic gallery wall – love the mismatched, collected over time look. I have the same mirror.

  14. It looks great! I love that you didn’t use only pictures but mixed a mirror and a few other things. I also LOVE you couch!

    Great Style!

  20. You don’t need symmetry you have BALANCE! Beautiful!

    • Thank you Sue, You’re right! I didn’t even think of that while working on it but now that I look at it, that’s what makes it work, balance!

  21. That is gallery wall perfection! I LOVE the warmth of all of the colors. It would lose its charm with symmetry! Life to the full, Melissa @ DaisyMaeBelle

  22. love the arrangement and the different shapes! great job!

  29. This is really pretty! Love the variety!

  30. That is the most perfect gallery wall I think I’ve seen! And I’ve no doubt you’ve heard this before… but where did you get that magnificent couch? *Swoon*!

    • Hi Rhonda!

Thank you so much. That couch (and a matching loveseat) were for sale at a local consignment shop and were originally upholstered in a very 60’s gold floral. I had them redone in a hefty linen and just love how they turned out. I can never have enough tufting ;)

  31. Looks fantastic! Glad you showed the progression because it shows you not to stop too soon ~ how to get everything scaled effectively. :)

Thank you for partying with the Wildly Original Crowd.
