As I posted about yesterday I’m going to be finishing up some quilting projects. So in the spirit of quilting and needing some help with my own machine piecing I stopped in at a local quilting retreat, Quilters Haven in Middletown, CT. I call it a retreat because what’s more wonderful than being surrounded by quilters quilting? It’s really a gathering place where classes and open “sews” are offered. Sounds like heaven to me.
As I entered to ask for a class schedule I hear my name being called, it was my cousin Claudia who I haven’t seen for at least 10 years!!! What are the chances??? So needless to say we were both thrilled to see each other and did a bunch of catching up. I love when things like that happen, it’s almost magical to me. All of the other ladies and one handsome gentleman that were there sewing were so warm and welcoming and making the most beautiful quilts!
So the open sews are now on my schedule and its great to know my cousin, an amazing quilter by the way, will be there!
If you live in this area I highly recommend Quilters Haven, for the help, the classes and they also have a long arm quilting machine and offer professional machine quilting.
Cheers!
Jayne

I love the punch of color you added to the post! What a great way to spend an afternoon, and to have the opportunity to catch up with lost loved ones make it extra special.
Thanks lois, I just had the best afternoon, I was smiling the rest of day!
Ack! I love the fabric so much! Beautiful. :)
Thanks Laura!
Sounds like fun!
What a neat coincidence! Beautiful fabrics in the picture you included. Quilting is one thing I’ve always wanted to know how to do but never seem to find the time to learn. Sigh. Maybe when I’m retired…?
Hi Carrie, don’t wait till you retire to learn! I started when my three sons were babies and would quilt while they napped, it was so relaxing and quiet :)
Though I do not quilt or know how :( I think it is a wonderful craft. I love and admire antique quilts. One of my favorite patterns is the wedding rings. And I am also very fond of antique crib quilts.
Cheers from DC,
Loi
The wedding ring pattern is one of my favorites also and you really have to know what you’re doing to get it right!
