Love my new Purdy brush!

My husband and I were at Lowes to buy a bunch of stuff we needed.  While in the paint isle I spotted the Purdy brushes, now almost every single if not every single blogger I follow who paints furniture uses Purdy brushes and swear by them.  So I bought myself one and used it for the first time today and absolutely love it!  The difference was remarkable and made my work that much easier, my Annie Sloan chalk paint went on like butter.

Everything I’ve ever done has involved brushes actually, I’ve never thought of that before!  I went to art school and always invested in really good brushes.  And I don’t think I’ve mentioned this before but I’m a hairstylist and make up artist and use the best brushes I can get my hands on because they make all the difference.  My favorite hair brushes are made by Mason Pearson, the quality is amazing and worth every penny, they last for ever.  I love Chanel, Trish McEvoy and Shu Uemura make up brushes.  Well as you can tell I’m passionate about brushes!  By the way no one contacted me to review these brushes, just my humble opinion.  Here are some photos of what I’ve been up to.

  1. Those chairs are looking good!

  2. oh Jayne that top brush looks delicious! I have a thing for brushes, (I love my Mason Pearson) too!!! I shall look at your make-up brush recommendations as I’ve been using Mac and Bobbi brown (as well as a few of my sable water colour brushes) but always like to find new ones. Warmest wishes from an old farmhouse in England – Glenda

    • Hi Glenda, I adore your old farmhouse and your blog! Brushes are the best I even use them as decor, standing in a small vase in my masterbath. Looking forward to your next post!

  3. Wow! Thanks for the info! I recently painted some furniture I got at the thrift store and was not pleased with the brushes I used, so I’m definitely going to follow your advice and try a Purdy. Your chairs look fabulous…love the colors you chose.

  4. I enjoy reading your blog, and I’ve nominated you for the Illuminating Blog Award on today’s post, Aug. 24th. :)
